Introduction

  • Provide free, accessible and basic training on poison prevention and poison center services to anyone 13 years or older, living/working in Illinois.
  • Introduce free online resources regarding poison safety, prevention and first-aid recommendations.
  • Provide information necessary to educate community members on poison safety and prevention.
  • Empower others to share poison prevention materials and information with each other and members of their communities.
By completing this free course, you become registered as a “Poison Prevention Educator” with the Illinois Poison Center (IPC).  You are not expected or committed to do poison prevention education.  As a result of completing this Poison Prevention Education Course and viewing the variety of resources available to you (education materials, presentation tools, promotion items, etc.), we hope that you will integrate poison prevention materials/education and the IPC toll-free helpline number ( 1-800-222-1222 ) into your personal and/or professional life.  
 
 
This course is approved for FREE continuing education credit (CEC) by:  
  • Gateways to Opportunity (IL childcare provider members) 
  • Illinois Department of Public Health (Illinois RN, Paramedic, PHRN, EMT-1/AEMT, EMT, FRD/EMR Professionals)
  • The Early Intervention Training Program at the University of Illinois (Illinois Early Intervention Service Coordinators, Early Interventionists, and other Early Intervention stakeholders)
